Surrey Hills, maybe sometime this year?

Re: Surrey Hills, Bank Holiday weekend

The area round there is great really - you can start in the same place every ride and make it different every time as there are so many trails. And you can reach the bigger hills off road easily. Not particularly technical so if you're on a full susser it might be a bit dull, but it's good fun on rigid / old bikes. Can get V muddy in the darker months though!

Any news on Sunday? I'm up for it.

Not heard from the member who was going to organise the route, so looks unlikely unless someone else wants to lead the ride

I would offer if a) I was fit enough to do it justice, and b) knew enough of the back routes and singletrack. I mainly know the main routes and popular trails but even they are sketchy.

Re:

Worse case for me, I would lead us down somewhere that our bikes/abitities wouldn't be able to cope with.

And get lost.

Without cake.

Re: Surrey Hills, Bank Holiday weekend

If anyone want to meet at Reigate hill car park (free, national trust but busy the later it gets) at 9.30 tomorrow I know a good little route. It's not the greatest show case for the Surrey hills, and not too tough or techie, but it's pleasant and ideal for retro stuff. Coming back from holiday today so in two minds whether to go out or not.

Re:

I'll check with the boss, but hope to make it. How long riding time roughly? And, ahem, sustenance stops?

Options. The route I have in mind is about 30k, whatever a k is. With stop prob about 3 hours. I'm not very fit or fast so steady pace.

Could divert to bike beans in ashtead but would be map reading. Cafe at top of box hill an option but will be busy. Better one might be pilgrims cafe at west humble railway station. Always the van on Headley Heath but not always there. Then there is cafe at Reigate hill car park.

Re:

Sorry, I'm off to Hastings tomorrow. I might explore a few trails in the Surrey Hills in the week.

Re:

Can't make this one I'm afraid, really p-ssed about it tbh!

I hope you have a good ride mate
