Sleeves and covers of your youth

I am a child of the 60s 70s and 80s. I like a load of stuff and not all punk at all. Kate Bush, Abba you name it - the 4 Skins - MOtorhead, Rainbow, AC/DC, Bowies, The Stones, Oasis ..... when do i stop? BUt i like a beer and some punk!!!

My iPod has 12854 songs on it - at an average of 3 mins per song - 38562 minutes = 6420 hours = 26.75 days and it is not all punk!!!! If it was you could double the songs in the same time!!!

Went to see hazel oconnor around 'breaking glass' time and the support act, who were awful, were a little known group called Duran Duran.

Got into krafwerk and OMD while also jethro Tull et al.

lol I like Jethro Tull a lot!!!!! I was described as Thick as a Brick by my best mate a long time ago. Aqualung is a fav song too.

Duran Duran are good too - but maybe not live!!!!!

Kraftwerk are good but not really my scene Bahaus (sp?) what song did they sing? Bela Lugosi? That was good. Funny how music can link stuff in my mind - not much else does (so my wife says).

Oh - the major advantage of the iPod is i have the ear phones in and pretend not to hear her LMFAO earphones were not even plugged in!!! I am in big trouble if she starts reading this !!

I have a very broad musical taste, from classical, through jazz (bop not trad), Led Zep, Who, Bowie and just about everything else well written and clever.

Followed the Stranglers for years and attended dozens of their concerts until shortly after Meninblack when they started to get too commercial for me.

Current fave album contains this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjybzwxORz0

EDIT: And as no one's even taking a guess: Top album is The Beatles double White album and the bottom is Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

I think i am at an age where i will listen to what i like and not look for new stuff - and i think that is a bit sad. I am not a jazz fan but i do like The Dave Brubeck Quartet and the song that everyone knows. Classical never did it for me but i am waiting for Paxo to ask about the Sex Pistols on University Challenge and describe it as classical - it will happen sometime although probably after Paxo.

The Strangers are good, i am looking for their album now.

I still haven't bought a CD player!

Here are some albums I have just been playing, you know the ones
scattered on the floor, yes I still do that. I like the covers of Yes
albums, but not the music. I have had one of those albums since 1972!

Back when I was a student, I lent a few precious albums to a work colleague.

A couple of weeks later I was invited to her (extremely posh) parents house, as I wanted one of the albums back. What I found was a scene somewhat like the picture above, but with all the albums out of their sleeves and scattered across the floor. And not just my albums, there must have been a dozen others that she had also borrowed.

She had no idea why I was so upset as apparently they treated all their records like that.

I still have all those albums, plus the pristine replacements that don't look like the surface of a skating rink.
