So, Dr S..

You are saying if you go to this page:

http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/p ... 237535.php

You can see his Home Phone, and a link to photos on his photobucket Sithlord page etc

All I'm saying is Google is rather good sometimes. In no way am I suggesting that Simon Smiths home phone number is in the above link. It could well be, but its pure coincidence should it happen to be at the bottom of that page and starts with 01670.

The pic link gives the info username as sithlord

I have absolutely no interest in this thread, as I have never purchased anything from the chap in question... however.....

I seem to recall somewhere (and its the first day back at work, so not going to read the entire thread again) there being a call for an attempt to calculate the entire value of the parts owed... has this been done?

There are clear indications that his private contact details have now been published, which, as a dedicated fence sitter, is a little troubling. If I happened to be associated to this chap purely by name and coincidence, yet was not actually him, I would be VERY angered by this. By all means, accumulate details in private and between those parties directly involved (owed money and on the receiving end) but for gods sake.... should we really be blasting a telephone number of an as yet, unsubstantiated individual, all over the internet (Yes I know its very likely that its him, but did anyone think to contact the person via that number, prior to posting it for all the world to see?)

Also, and this is now specific to RB itself... as a releative newbie with only a few hundred posts and a history of trade of only a few purchases and no sales, I am a little apprehensive of buying and selling now, what with this, the PayPal "Gift" thread, and the shit storm that was the other missing parts thread, and associated mud slinging

Happy New Year to you all

As someone else with no personal axe to grind here, I think it's testament to the sheer volume of good trading that happens on retrobike that when one person is exposed as a bad apple it's so rare that it's a big deal.

Personally, I never traded with sithlord, in fact I didn't even open his posts as I didn't like the way he came across. That's unusual on here, and i've never had anything approaching a problem buying or selling here, except I buy more than I sell!

Hi

Firstly, can i say, during my many years at Retrobike and thousands of transactions (some involving considerable sums of money to complete strangers) that i have only had trouble once or twice and that has been with the chap to whom this thread is dedicated. If you use your common sense then Retrobike is a very safe place to do business. Don't lose sleep over it!

Secondly, I have pointed people in the right direction as everyone seamed to be going around in circles. I offered that they might be able to find his contact details for themselves by using google. Simon Smith has threatened me with legal action in the past for outing his dodgy ways on another forum. I have not directly divulged his contact details at all. I have simply pointed in the direction of where it can be found.

As for it being the same Simon Smith, the fishtank photo is the same, the photobucket account is the same, the location is the same and the telephone number is the same as the one i have had in my mobile for over four years and have contacted him on several times before in the past. The chances of it being a different Simon Smith as about as slim as his chances of him successfully suing me.

cheers
Si

I too think this is a police matter and once the total is added up it's probably enough for them to act.

I'm also relatively new and won't buy/sell until it all blows over which I'm sure it will.

I have no problems with the details on here, it was posted in an public advert.

Wasn't casting any aspersions with regard anything.... was just sitting on the fence as usual with requisite splinter up me left arse cheek to boot).

My viewpoint would obviously look remarkably different if I were to be affected, as others here are, and I have nothing but hope for you all that it gets sorted

Thats all I will say on the matter now, and will leave it to those to whom he owes money and or parts

G

Simon Smith contacted me this morning indicating he will be sorting those awaiting parts out in due course.

I will be locking this thread and his account(s) and will take this as the end of the matter assuming he delivers the goods.
