Selling an old motorbike - where?

I have a 23 year old bike, not worth a great deal as it is too old to be modern and not old enough to be classic. I’d like a sale to be as hassle free as possible.

Thoughts on where to sell? MCN classifieds? Autotrader or eBay? I’m not on FB. It isn’t rare or sought after, so owners forums probably won’t get me very far.

Trade in against a new one will be peanuts, but I’m hesitant to sell private.

If everything like belts etc has been done recently it shouldn’t be too hard a sell anywhere as long as you don’t expect more than 3k ish unless it’s a pristine one. Very niche.

It might not be the most appealing of Ducati, but it will have it's following. It's a Ducati after all.

I'd have said 2 to 2.5k. 3k if it's crazy low mileage in pristine. there's a 2003 on autotrader from a stealer at £2k right now with 12k miles on the clock. it's not pristine, but it looks pretty good.

Bizarrely if you price low you get more timewasters.

I'd suggest you put a decent price and invite further discussion face to face.

You can search Sold Items on eBay to see where you should be looking pricewise.

Any or all the marketplaces you mentioned should get you interest.

Don't try Retrobike, they're all cheapskates😉

... although you could post up a tempting shot or 2... you never know🤔

Belts done with Desmo service by main dealer in May 2024, chain and sprockets new last year too. I’ve owned it since 2007. People ask £2.5k, but they won’t get it. Mine is tidy, but has over 30k miles. £1600 tops I reckon.

It going for it’s MOT on Friday. I’ll take some photos then.
