Just to confuse things though, the Pantera was the only other aluminum GT to have the flat end-cap. Only for one year - 1992 IIRC.

Brilliant! I Love it :D

Yes the 92 Pantera had a flat top tube end cap but this frame does not. Is that decal blue or green?

My old Timberline has weird crossover rear brakes by EXAGE.
I have never seen them beofre on any other MTb or bike.
Is/would, the serial no. be on the dropout lugs?

This is not a Zaskar, could be a Backwoods, Pantera or anything if it's been stripped and polished

This is what the back end of a Zaskar look like

And this is what the serial number looks like

There was a rumour that some Taiwanese post Y2K frames had the curved end cap but I haven't seen any. What I will say is that although it's not a Zaskar it is still looks a half decent ride. Get rid of the twist grips and away you go, BUT it aint a Zaskar

To get you back on track....Your old Timberline was a 1992 or earlier model then and didn't have weird brakes by Exage.....it had a Shimano Exage u-brake in the rear like most of the GT's and many other makes did back in that era. The cross over cable guide mounted on your seat tube was there to reduce the cable travel when braking and enhance the braking.
