100% hear you! The frame isn't a cheap repair by any means, but vs. getting a hand built frame today it's amazing value and proper retro. Thanks guys but as you well know this frame is not an asset:
£700 - Frame repairs & paint
£250 - Correct wheels, plus time to build them.
£500 - If you wanted XTR M900 mechs and shifters as well as the Ritchey Logic brakes and cranks.
£200 - Finishing kit to be totally period correct.
£? - Forks, so many choices, but realistically I'd have wanted Mag 21SL.
£? - Whatever the hell red Zee-Max tyres are worth now.
Giving it away saved me a fortune!![]()
If you wanted to do a high-end P-23 build, then it starts to get silly, but many retro-grouches have lots of stuff squirreled away.
I have a Raleigh Titanium frame I'm going to give away because it's cracked and not interested in getting it repaired. Repair bill for that is tiny vs. the Ritchey due to no need to paint and just a cracked seat/top tube junction.
You've become a RetroBike hero!!!
