Then you have the case of a group of close friends all posting from the same computer while,
quite innocently, pretending not to know one another, one of them typing for the other two. There's nothing in the rules about that, and it's been shown to be a strong alibi for any analysis based on IP address.
The sad truth of this matter............
A new member, and a total virgin to the forum world, joins a website...!!!! after being encouraged by an active member, of the website, its a great place to be, with a top bunch of fellas.
this is me.
the real fact is, i may have been a forum virgin when i joined, but im not a bicycle virgin, but someone who has spent his best years in the bicycle trade in one guise or another.
understandably with 20 years of bicycle experience behind me..... a good workshop...... and national forestry commission land next door with amazing forest and tracks to ride, on a daily basis, bikes are still a massive part of my life.........and naturally this brings with it the chance to meet new riders, and/or encourage people to ride.
when you ride, im sure you will agree there are chances to chat, and talk about bikes etc, ............, and yes, i certainly am guilty of praising john and the retrobike website and the enjoyment i get from being a member around these parts, and the fullfillment i get from retro bicycles.
And yes i am guilty of encouraging several people to join and take look, a better look at what oldskool bikes have to offer, instead of just being brainwashed by the media and spending mega bucks on mental modern bikes.
Three people who have come back after an evening ride, and refreshments, who sit discussing retrobikes, and using the retrobike website together, on one laptop, is "NOT" the same as one person with 3 accounts.
And i for one, certainly had no clue, that any 3 people in a room using a laptop, and enjoying a website, was in any way breaking any rules.
However, accusations of one member with multiple accounts were cast, and shouted........and wrongly so...!!!! these incorrect assumptions were sorted by john, who, did get to the bottom of the matter very quickly, and establish that there were 3 users using the the same laptop, on this one occasion.
Sorry but thats fact..... get over it.
As for the multiple accounts/one member question......does it go on....????, ...... Yes it does........a sad fact but true.
The sad act, that thought it would be clever to open 3 accounts in the name of sinnermans mum, sinnermans dad, and sinnermans sister, should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves..... It was totally transparant. This totally childish behaviour, should have stayed in your playground as a kid..........!!!!!!
I was told, by a better man than me.... to "rise above it"........which i did... but i will say im very pleased with the botm, changes,.........im confident it will stop all the babylike playground nonsense that was becoming a regular thing.
Happy dayz...............
