As in which paint manufacturer is better than other manufacturers, rattle tin wise.

Rust-o-lem I've found to have good coverage, and clearly mixes well by the lack of splatter, of which there is some but its pretty much a good mist.

Might just be the can, but Belton clear lacquer has all the propellant behind it of a bumble bee with one wing. A brand I'd not buy again. Seems too arty farty to be any use.
The pound shop special Brand 151 is actually pretty good. I was expecting that not to dry and the horrors that would bring

Any more votes for Rust-o-lem or whoever ? :)

Another brand that seems to be 'in' as in you see it more in the art stores is Liquitex, which thus far is bollocks. Again might be an old tin but ....:? didnt seem to have the sticking power despite primer.

Re:

I've had good results with rustoleum directly onto lightly sanded cranks, stem, maguras... Matt black finish that seems reasonably immune to knocks and scratches. Went on easily with good coverage too. I think the range is quite limited in the amount of colours available though.

Re:

I moved away from 'off the shelf' cans a few years back.Get mine from local automotive bodyshop suppliers. They fill cans there,an almost infinite selection of colours from any car manufacturer going back decades (plus many extras),and all available in basecoat/topcoat etc.
It's not so cheap, around 12-15 quid for a large can but it sprays a finer mist than any regular can I've used, almost like using a spray gun, goes on like a dream. Can't remember off the top of my head who makes the actual paint  but being more for trade use it does seem better quality and no deterioration of finish many years on.
