Raleigh Super Bomber

It would have been wasted on me, I'd have just bent it.

Re:

I'd leave it as it is, apart from a tidy up and the usual service stuff. Nice to see the original 'Snake Belly' tyres on it!

Yes this is what I've decided to do, a good clean up and service, leaving it as original as possible.
Thanks to all who have posted.
I will put some pics up as it progresses
It'll have to wait though till my tandem is finished.

Re:

OMG, thats awesome, dont care what anyone says it was something as a kid you looked at and said 'I Want One Of Those Bad Boys' Heavy and poorly built, really a street cruiser than a tackle all terrain kinda bike. Although Fat Tyres and Curved Frame it echoed Klunkers and Schwinn's from the US. I used to live near a US Airbase back in my youth and remember the kids on Schwinn's and Huffy's which looked similar.

Looking forward to seeing more from the Mighty Super Bomber :D

Bombers are great, rose tinted specs have nothing to do with it. As a kid you didn't care, you just wanted one. I really wanted one as I had a Dawes Kingpin Princess, I'm male......damn you cheapskate dad !

I feel your pain. Wanted a bomber or a grifter - and ended up with my mum's old raleigh shopper (not chopper) bike. Even with the handlebars and seat post right down - I could barely sit on it to start with - although it did have the (dis)advantage of growing with me so I was stuck with it for years.

Re:

I never had to suffer my mums hand me down bike, though I'm sure that would have been character building...
Aged 13 I wanted the Bomber in the Kays cataloge for Christmas but that was too expensive. I had really outgrown my purple Tomahawk and the Bomber was the natural progression- I ended up with a BMX from Carrefour Supermarket- it was utter shite. The 'Monza Sport' was completely red, everyone called it the fire engine- it had plastic drum brakes! The front forks bent on that one and the stem snapped on the following yellow and black one (nicknamed the wasp  )I got through three of them within 6 months before the Manager at Carrefours finally gave in and refunded me. I spent the money on a guitar. That experience put me off bicycles for a long time, I didn't get another one till I was 27!
