Project P7! Loft find! Completed!!!!

Re:

I really can’t believe how these have survived....

A decade or so in a loft in West Yorkshire, where I sourced it, must have preserved em...

The laquer as detailed in thread was knackered but the tyres had survived. This has been an extremely low mileage bike.

Must be a UV thing with the tyres... Apparently my P7 was laid up in bits after a short racing career.. still has the original brake pads and chainwheels so sounds like it was very short indeed... but in any case it didn’t come with tyres, my Velociraptors came on a ‘97 Pine. I don’t know if they were considered decent tyres BITD but I think they look great on bikes from that era

Re:

All cabled up!

Knocking off for tonight but just need to trim cables, fit front pads, fit chainstay protector, ensure wheels are perfectly true and also take a quick look at the free hub which is a little noisy so might need a light service....

Would like to have a crack at this in BOTM if I can finish it in time!

Re:

Bike is complete!

Full build spec to follow...

However I’d already agreed a sale of this to Ross (rwm1962) as I know he’ll cherish it and it will go great with his collection....

I now have my Kona Lava Dome to complete along with a 1996 Stumpjumper

This has been one of my favourite builds and if I hadn’t have agreed a sale early on in the renovation I would not be selling it.

This truly is immaculate!

Re:

I’ve just used the money from the sale to buy some carbon wheels for my Scott foil road bike...

However it is a weight weenie so at least it’s retro evolution and not just squandered on no bike stuff....

Watch this space for my Kona Lava Dome and Specialized stumpjumper builds!

I will keep one and sell one (garage space) but not sure which yet!!!
