That’s a terrible thing to have happen to you. Let’s just hope that as it’s obviously been done by somebody well-organised maybe the police might have an idea who it might be. With all due respect to Thorpie, my impression is that they’re pretty unconcerned about individual bike thefts, but hopefully something on this scale will grab their attention. The ironic thing is that although your collection is so well regarded by people on here, its market value can’t be all that high in comparison with modern bikes. There’s always the hope I guess that when thieves find they’ve saddled themselves with stuff that isn’t that easy to sell, they sometimes dump it rather than take a risk. Fingers crossed anyway.

Although all crime is taken seriously, some is taken more seriously than others. On the scale of things a single bike theft is fairly minor to some of the things we deal with. A theft of this kind should, by definition, be classed as a burglary and certainly in S. Yorks would be investigated by a dedicated CID based burglary squad as opposed to a wooden top like me! The obvious advantages being that the officers will have a good idea who is operating in their area. I dont know where this offence took place and cannot speak for the investigating force but it should be investigated fully. I am sure that everyone understands though, without any leads or any recovered property the majority of burglaries go undetected, lets hope this is not the case with Steve's bikes. I must add, just incase anyone sees this, any comment I make is my own personal opinion and not that of my employers.

Dont know if this has been said before but a possible help is that some of these bikes wont exactly 'blend in' as theyre not common anymore so will help us all keep tabs on ebay and other selling sites,i really hope that some of them if not all will be recovered :evil:

Thanks everyone, I'm afraid its not good news :cry: as soon as I got to my parents garage and saw that the chain through the floor anchor was intact I knew what they had done :shock:

So when I got the phone call at about 4pm to say they'd found them, I already knew that they'd cut through all the frames to get them off the chain :evil:

They caught them trying to weigh them in for scrap :? I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry :?

The one little bit of good news is that the boxes my wife took over didn't contain the NOS Cinder cone frame or Hei Hei so at least their OK.
