Seriously though, where would you get tyres and tubes for it? or is it tubeless? :shock:

The tyres are solid rubber. No inner tubes in the 1800s

You can buy continuous tyres and tubes for it.

Cyclemagic are the people to ask about it. If you ever get to Leicester, it's well worth a look at their warehouse of aincient cycling stuff. Hilldodger works there.

There are ordinaries with pneumatic tyres and tubes built around 1890. I was considering buying one a while back but the availability of tyres/tubes made it a no go. That was before google and I'm sure a bit of effort would locate some now.

The sold tyres have a metal coil running through them that are part of the fitting process. They are, however, an absolute pig to fit. Fortunately being solid rubber they don't need changing too often!

Get in contact with the Hull Street Life Museum of Transport. they have the old bikes of all sorts and will hopefully know who to contact. (I'm sure there is a group riding these vintage bikes in the area)
and of course ask OldNed for who to ask.

(I've sent Old Ned a nudge in a pm, he's the Saddle person, I mean Chair person I think of Bygone Bikes and they've just had an event in Sheffield over the weekend)
