I am being serious yes, honestly why does it matter, its only a name, i agree they probably have done it with alot of forethought, but i rekon it will be an improvment on the old one as in riding geometry, so if someone can make an improvment on something thats old then thats good.
I know im going to get you old gits  blasting me for this comment but im not that old and cant see a problem with it, i think if alot of modern day bike buyers rode an old Fat Chance they would probably say.... God o mighty why the hell have On-One named there new bike after this awefull thing, thats not neccesserly my opinion but im sure it would be alot of peoples

Improve the riding Geometry ? ... geometry has only changed to accommodate the long suspension forks and as such if you go rigid the overly long rigid forks needed to keep the geometry the same geometry.
If they truly made a retro bike, dropped the forks to a decent length 390 to 410 or whatever it should be and made the thing at least look like a Fat Change I doubt people would be complaining as much.
But it has no fat chance heritage, doesn't look like one, decent tubing but still the may as well call it Inbred or whatever 853.. oh they used to make one didn't they said it was too expensive and not worth the extra... so why bring it out again but under a different name.

Anyways, I'm not a fanboy of either. Just how I see it..

Anyways, it's modern shite so why are we talking about it

They'll be making pink carbon bikes next...

You are right they do already pink carbon

but as i said before i dont know why as 99.9% of people that will buy 1 will not even have a clue that the name is from an old retro bike classic

They did acknowledge Fat Chance in the On One posting, so they are likely to use the brand to sell the new frame.

Ahh i see iv been away biking for 2 weeks so i have not seen the advert on it as it has been removed, i honestly can see were you guys are coming from but i mean..... thats life and shit happens, companies now adays will do anything they can to try and up there product, its not just bikes its everything, its like the super markets, they sell food and now sell bikes its crazy but people buy them although they are worse than halfords apollos, if it makes companies money they will do anything

As regards the fact that many potential buyers will not have heard of fat chance is true. Until I joined retrobike I had not heard of fatchance. They are from the land of expensive exotica that the likes of me would never have come across especially in the pre internet days.

Fat made bikes that many like or drool over but they are not Gods personal gift to the cycling world............... sheesh, you guys

As in my above post, they appear(ed) to be using the Fat Chance name as a selling point for the frame. If as you say that many potential buyers will not have heard of the brand then why would they use it and who are they targeting?

Interesting discussion....... I'm the happy owner of a Fat Chance replica (same geometry, non tapered stays, same "feel" etc...) handmade by someone who knows the brand and it's heritage not some stupid marketing tw#t. I know how nowadays marketing works and how brands have been sold in the past....... but it still does make me sad to see some people think everything is for sale...... Glad to be on this forum with like-minded people who respect heritage and craftmanship.
The On-One is just not for us but for a different generation with a lot to learn!

...... a proper Fat Chance replica (without the "name", but still clearly recognizable, a tribute to the brand imho)

Hmmmm... I recall a recent post about PACE completely jumping on the bandwagon with their new retro looking sweatshop manufactured steel!!! hard tail. Two main issues here, they went completely gone against what they are about and sure will try and charge 4 times more than this On One "Thing". I dont recall Mr. Carter copping too much grief on that thread. You could argue what they have done is worse (if any of these marketing plights are actually that bad!!!), but pretty sure Pace is a company well respected on this forum ?, hence.......

Companies are only trying to give customers what they want, surely, but like Graham1975 I also have never really known about Fat Chance bikes before reaming through this thread and can maybe understand the purists disgust, hence, the mild offensive nature to those who say other.

If you re-read that thread about the new Pace you will find that a lot of people thought it was bloody awful. At least though they were marketing under their own monicker and not blatantly ripping off someone elses.

The "chancer" might be a great machine for what it is (thus appealing to 'newbies') but it does appear to be a sly marketing ploy for those who do remember Fat Chance for what they were.

So lets just say The Yo Eddy Fat Cance was remade by the same people in the same way to the same speck.......... BUT went modern what would people think to that? Would anyone complain he had gone all modern?
I reckon 95% off people would by the On-One version over an identical new old version????? of Yo eddy. Not that im an On-One fan cos im not
That is what calaiswoodburner was meanig in the previos post i think, Pace going all modern, the thing is people want new modern bikes now with all the latest technology not old bikes that dont really ride that well, but yep i know what you are thinking we are on retrobikes... true but dont slate companies for developing new frames in a modern way
