Muddy Fox rescue: what model?

I went to drop off an old table at our recycling plant today, and couldn't walk away without rescuing this. I have no idea what year it is, but the 1" threaded stem and old diacompe levers/cantis made me think 80's?
It seems in good shape, sadly a newer 200gs rh thumbshifter and Altus rear mech, rest looks original perhaps.
I'm sure there's a retrobike member or two who will know more, I'd love to know what model this is and any info re original spec etc.
Anyway, glad I rescued it!

It looks like a 1987 Courier, the chainset is also different to the usual Sugino VP that was fitted.

Has it been resprayed, green chip in pic looks as though it might have been, the generic decals perhaps suggest this too?

Ah, good point, it may well have been - will investigate further... I may bring this back to life with a fresh white paintjob and Repro decals from Gil... I don't think the 87 came in black, but I could be wrong?
