Moving car on my land/Xsara picasso advice

Hello folks

Someone has dumped a Citroen Xsara Picasso on our land. Having contacted the police, we've been told that as we've tried to contact the owner and they haven't replied, we're allowed to move it onto a public road, where it will get taken away by the police.

We couldn't find a garage who will tow it so we're going to do it ourselves. The only problem is the handbrake is on.

Is it easy to disconnect a Xsara handbrake cable? Or any other ideas for moving it?

not ur car jus drag the pos out onto the road by any means

or go under the car and cut the rear cables to the calipers looks like brake cable

Call the local pikey scrap outfit from a payphone and tell them it's abandoned. It'll be gone within the day.

Have you use of a forklift truck? If not just drag it with a tractor?

The two things every household has in the garage of course :-P

What colour is it?

Fork lifts are normally yellow or orange. Strange question :?
Tractors come in many colours though

Hope you get the car moved fella

I assumed when he described the car as being abandoned on his "land" he probably had a slightly bigger area than you and I would call our gardens and therefore might have access to some machinery Ben

Most handbrakes barely hold the car, there's a good chance you can tow it with a decent tow rope and a 4x4.

I repeat, a DECENT tow rope...

If you want to move it without damaging it, jack up one rear wheel and place some circular tubes e.g. scaffold poles or broom handles, lower it, do same on other wheel, push it away placing tubes from behind in front.

Or just cut the hand brake cable then use bricks as the new handbrake, else open door by big screwdriver in the lock.
