Modern Campagnolo 11s

I did a similar thing with a Ritchey Road Logic and a Ibis Spanky.

Campag Athena 11 speed, I used modern Record hubs on Mavic Open Pro CD rims, (these are available for about £300).

Thinking of selling on the whole groupset and wheels atm

Like what you've achieved there, nice looking ride. Are the Record hubs black? Pity your cranks aren't silver if you're selling them!

Yes Record hubs are black - v. nice. I wanted to use CK but they don't do Campy compatible freehubs.

The Ibis was really nice but sadly too small for me :(

That Spanky looks really good. I'm thinking of doing a similar thing with a De Rosa SLX and Campagnolo Super Record, but I'm not sure about the carbon look of the rear derailleur. It looks a bit Tuppaware :?

Also you could go for Royce who do a Campagnolo hub.

Reputation certainly suggests CK hubs are top drawer, but oddly I think they're ugly. Perhaps I need to see some in the flesh. If some the older 9s hubs by Campagnolo can accept 11s then I think that will be the way I will go. Current hubs are the one component I find uninspiring in terms of design - modern hubs just look naff to me.

All 9,10,11 Campagnolo are interchangeable, fortunately.

I tend to agree about the modern stuff looking pig ugly. I guess I've been staring at 5&6 speed pantographed Super Record for too long.

In there-in lies the issue with most modern parts, they are non comparable to the engineered parts of previous incarnations - even the old Veloce stuff is far nicer than the new stuff. This 11S Athena groupset is very pretty in my eyes, think it could be looked upon in future years as a bit of a classic - aesthitically at least.

word of warning for power torque users (got bitten myself) ... the park tools extractor is at best pants,
at worst rubbish. The Cyclus one works much, much better ....
The odd thing is the bearings - drive side it's on the crank axle, non-drive is in the cup - go figure !

Had the Silver Athena on mine (Kinesis GF Ti) and only swapped out for Chorus as there was just too much
"silver" going on :)

BTW - Finney ... the ergo's are in the post when I get home today :)

Thanks for the heads up on the tools - annoyingly I have ultratorque on a Ribble but have gone powertorque for this project so I'm going to let the LBS take the strain for the timebeing - I will venture into purchasing tools next year perhaps.

I'm after the 'silver going on' look - I've polished the Alu on the Vitus to a nice bright shine, not sure it will be understated as was the original intention (no decals etc.) as the bling is all too evident but we'll see how it turns out.

Great work on the ergo's - cassette, chain and consumables left to buy, oh and the small issue of wheels. The decision on those is still very much in the deliberating stage!

Silver gruppo on a raw Ti proved just a touch too much !
Wheels are easy ... Royce, Sapim Laser and ... I'll stop there ... :)
