Modern Campagnolo 11s

I just looked at CampyOldy and he's got a pair of Veloce silver 32H hubs with 9/10 speed cassette body.

Very pretty

Via your excellent description, powershift will more than adequately cover my needs, shifting through 5 gears at one go sounds like the work of the devil

I prefer (or should I say am stuck in my ways) and one click, one gear is enough of an advancement for cycling as I'm concerned.

The Veloce hubs are very pretty, and the way i'm thinking is to get some wheels built with older style rims and suitable new hubs. Something modestly bedecalled as you say would be lovely. The frame is anodised purple main tubes, nicely polished forks, lugs and rear triangle, with all decals removed from the frame, so a minimal look is what I ultimately would like to achieve.

I would be very interested to hear if 9/10 speed Campagnolo hubs are compatible with 11 speed cassettes - there are plenty of wheels / hubs being sold on ebay that are described as 9/10/11 speed, I had taken this as being a bit of poetic licence but perhaps not?

I just checked the Campagnolo website and in their FAQs the question

"3. Can an 11s sprocket set be mounted on a Campagnolo 9/10s compatible wheel?"

Is answered -

"Yes, the same freewheel body is compatible with 9s/10s/11s."

Very very good news indeed - many thanks for that, opens up a whole new world of hub options. That's made my mind up as to which way to go on the wheels! Cheers, appreciate your input and efforts on this one :)

Yep, all campag 9/10/11 speed hubs and cassettes are interchangeable :)

That cyfac looks nice!

I did a similar thing with a Ritchey Road Logic and a Ibis Spanky.

Campag Athena 11 speed, I used modern Record hubs on Mavic Open Pro CD rims, (these are available for about £300).

Thinking of selling on the whole groupset and wheels atm.

Interchangeable in that the width of an 11 speed cassette is no wider than it's predecessors i.e 10 & 9 cassettes?

Agreed, the Cyfac is very nice!

Like what you've achieved there, nice looking ride. Are the Record hubs black? Pity your cranks aren't silver if you're selling them!

Not too keen on Power Torque myself and am happily using Ultra Torque.

From what I've read, it isn't that PT performs badly, but that servicing is difficult without a specific puller.

If it was to be serviced by your LBS that's not an issue, but for the home mechanic UT comes out top.

For similar reasons, I've opted for ten speed over eleven, due to the chain. Ten is also more reasonably priced too, being "old" tech.
