Kris - how did you get the bendy bars through the stem?

I did the same with mine, these answer alumlite bars have 2 shims that fit either side so that you can fit after you have easily inserted the bars.

Alumilites are my favourite risers - they just feel right.
It's a bonus that they fit through normal stems with zero hassle too!

I think the bike would look better without the boots on the rear shocks - just my opinion.
