Great news. Ebay drops seller charges!

My custom postage still works.

Posting myself by RM48 and no issues at all.

Are we 100% sure that you can’t change it ……

Same, I botched the dates for ‘booking time away’ recently so just posed via RM48 without selecting any shipping options on eBay..

Then I realised that I couldn’t update the tracking like the olden days so I msg the buyers with a tracking numbers and asked them to leave feedback asap, because eBay kept harassing me, saying I was overdue to post.. apart from that hiccup.. I’ve just chosen RM48 from list provided.

Yes, I've messaged some of the buyers and they have confirmed that they had the postage refunded to them because;

Hi Andy - I did get an email from eBay on 27th August about this. Honestly hadn't got a clue about why I was sent this and why I was refunded (have never sold anything on eBay, am a buyer only) - I just assumed they knew what they're doing and why, and forgot about it. In case it helps, - this is what the eBay email that I received said:

"Hi *****

We issued you a refund for the postage cost of this order.

When you purchased this item, you also paid for the postage. However, the postage label wasn’t used, so we’re refunding the postage cost of £3.38.

Here's a summary of your refund. You should receive it in 3-5 working days.

Refund summary

Postage

£2.82

VAT

£0.56

Total refund

£3.38"

All despite me being told by eBay that I could simply change my tracking number when needed.

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
So to be 100% clear you can’t select custom postage rather than simple delivery?

And then select whichever service you want displayed to the buyer. Edit the cost and then when sold…. Scan your own tracking into eBay?

I can, but only on certain listings, there is no consistency.
EBay chat said that with simple delivery applied I didn't have to use their label, I could use my own and just change the tracking number, the money would still come to me, I would only get the 3.38 and my own postage would actually cost slightly more but I can deal with that. I was so satisfied, thinking I'd figured this out.

I suspect they are trying to force "with free delivery" as they area always trying to push it on me.

This option allows you to estimate postage in the price -

but I don't know if eBay then force you to fit a bicycle inside a large letter for postage?

As a business seller, I can choose the service and price, but as they are getting 14%, it's a lot more expensive than extra postage cost on almost anything worth listing.

Hi,

This may be 'old news' to some, but I found a work-around which currently allows me to choose my own postage option rather than having to use simple delivery.

When I list an item, usually as a 'buy it now' option in my case, I initially add a large value to the price box, usually £800 (other large figures may work?).

This seems to be the key to allowing me to add my own 'primary service', which offers the old style list of delivery services, which once chosen you can apply your own price to.

On occasion I have still had to choose the 'oversize' option for postage from their drop down menu, but once I clicked this option I could then choose a primary postage option from the same old style drop down list, for example Royal Mail special delivery from the express options available, I could also choose my own cost just as I could prior to the addition of simple delivery to the listing process.

It's then just a case of going back to the buy it now price box and changing it to what I actually want to sell the item for.

Sorry if I'm teaching any here to suck eggs, but thought it might help with some of the issues experienced above. I've used it recently to post out some expensive hubs that I wanted appropriately insured and a set of wheels that I wanted to send with Parcelforce rather than Evri or Yodel.

Matt
