Losing my (Wheel Building) Virginity.

Nice job. How did you gauge the tension? Note ? I have heard a phone can be good with a tuning app on it. Anyone tried it?

Re:

My wheel arrived just after my last post. Set to work swapping the stx-rc hub out for the XT one. Few hours later. Job done! To be honest it wasn’t to bad. Hope you get the pics. Hope they are the right way up!

Re:

I just squeezed each pair of spokes as I moved around the wheel making sure they had tension in them. There were none that I would consider 'loose'.
Funny you should swap out an RC hub, my next build is an RC rear hub.

Re:

I bought two separate wheels on eBay, the rear was an stx-rc hub and the front is an LX. I wanted matching Rims and hubs. The XT were in my box of bits so I thought I’d have a go. One down (the hard one... rear) one to go, once it arrives. I got the wheel jig ages ago (£5) so thought I’d give it a whirl and see if I could save some cash. Glad I did.

Re:

Good for you !

If you want to pass on the RC hub i'd be interested in it as a future build
I have 1 to do but I find those era hubs easy to strip down and rebuild plus you can get new bearings if required.

Re:

If I didn’t need it I’d have let you have it for postage cost. I’ve been collecting stx-rc parts for a while now. Only a front hub to get for a full groupset. Hoping to use the full set on another build, sorry. If I come across another one I’ll keep you in mind though.

Nicely done. I've only ever trued my wheels but quite tempted to take one apart completely and try to build it back up again.
