Been after a light XC bike since I sold my carbon Cube HT that had replaced my Ragley gravel bike. After much deliberation and heavy flirting
with a Specialized Epic, I landed on a new Spur frame for a good price. The initial plan was to build it with most of the parts from my Pace HT but as tends to happen it's ended up as a pretty much new build. Carried over were the dropper, carbon bar, stem and pedals. I picked up some second hand DT wheels as I really want carbon but don't want to pay for them atm! After that it's XT groups, Hope Tech 4 E4, Hope headset and SID Ultimate forks.
Took it out for a shake down run yesterday and am happy to report it is exactly what I wanted it to be. Don't know what it weighs but it flies up hill and feels really smooth and quick. I've not had a multi link FS before and it feels very plush out back, so much so that the front feels a bit harsh so there's fettling to be done. Just the job for the long XC days in the Dales I have planned!
Best of all I have managed to cobble together enough parts to keep the Pace running so this is N+1! BTW, purple was correct in the 90's and is still correct now.
