Afternoon all,

Well i've only gone and blooming done it !

My first ever self-built wheel.
I've not run it on a bike yet but there's tension in each spoke and it feels sturdy

Will run it up after dins

Looks good, I’m just about to attempt my first ever wheel build. XT hubs into citron mavics. Just hope my wheels look like yours when I’m finished..... round! Lol. Hope the test ride goes well.

I dont, I used my 95 Pine Mountain's V Brakes and did it by eye. Then stood back and observed as it spun.

Put a small steel rule across the V brakes just above the rim. It was pretty good from the outset.
Miraculous it was. If it needs more fettling i'll do it as and when.
I'm going to buy a Dti though.

Good to know it can be done rather primitively. Once I'm done with my current project I may give it a go. I always found it so fascinating to watch people build wheels, it's a real form of art.

around these parts wheel truing stands and dishing tools often come up on the local used bike parts forum (Craigs List) for sale pretty cheap - great tools to have on hand, as once you've built the first wheel ... you'll likely want to build another, and another and ...
