Hi all,

Just joined the forum after deciding to take the plunge into the world of retro :D (again)

I started off many years ago as a 13year old, thinking I was the bees knees on my Marin Bobcat Trail.

Got more serious and bought a P7 frame & forks, customed with XTR, Middleburn chainset, Hope hubs,Mavic rims (231's if I can remember correctly ?), Ringle Zooka stem, Pace Rc30 bars, Flight Ti Seat,
Richie Z Max 1.7 Tryes (Red Kevlar) but the Phsyco's come out every now and again.

Raced in the Youth category and won many a race. Still got the trophies in the loft somewhere.

If anyone knows Leisure Lakes, I was victorious there many a time :D

Fast forward 10 years . . . . .. . .

I can't even pull a bloody wheelie

Around two years ago I bought a Team RTS which looked the Boll*x. It had Tnker Jurez's seat that he had on his beast in the early 90's
It lasted about 2 months bfore I sold it.
I just couldn't get used to the full suspension.

Now I'm back and more determined :D

And armed with a loaded wallet and ready to buy my next retro machine.

Sorry to ramble

Neil

8) look forward to the pictures. please 'Ramble' on more  it's good therapy

Hi, and welcome to the site 8)

I too once used to race a a 'Yoof', on red Ritchey Z-Max 1.7s.....they were fantastic tyres

Now, take that loaded wallet to our For Sale forum and enjoy yourself

Dont worry, it will be empty soon enough.

100% correct. I think I need a new keyboard. Mines just broke when I looked in the gallery and drooled on it.

I can hopefully buy a bike that I could only dream of owning 12-15 years ago.

I've got a post running in the 'Wanted' section so watch this space.

Good luck Neil, your P7 was a near identical spec as what I was running racing as a yoof... and why does noone make 1.7 tyres anymore? Those lightweight red Ritchey's were probably the best tyres I ever used.

Hi,

Going the long way round, i was lost coming back after a break on a modern too. I still have a modern I have rebuilt, but a retro bike is ideal to re-establish our roots and enjoy the basic thrills that got ya hooked BITD. Sounds like you are not even old. Go for it!

   Doomed to the same purgatory as the rest of us

Welcome from another Neill (yeah 2 'L's )

I'm 29 which may not be old but I certainly feel old !

I think the annoying thing will be knowing I'll never be up to the standard I was when I was a teenager. Kids have no fear. I have plenty now tho

Oh well, Hopefully I'll have the same amount of fun.

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas

Neil
