History of the Orange Clockwork.

It's a cheap way to get advertisement on bike news sites and forums.
I'm sure Hope will give them a good deal on the Purple parts for advertising them as well.

Flogging any of the builds is just a bonus.

Im not sure sure. Could you find more than 25 people that would want to buy it in the current market....? And do you need to take the risk with more than 25 units...?

Nice addition to the range, using a far east low cost frame they already have.

Celebrates the anniversary with low risk. Generates additional turnover of £62,500. From one model, with an approx. profit of £21,875 approx., if using retail outlets and not sold direct(which of course would be more).

Agreed.

If they had produced a lovely, handbuilt, orange/white, steel bike I would have lusted after it and really wanted one but going from the price tag on the one they've produced a handbuilt bike would be north of 3k. At that price, as much as I'd want the Clockwork I know I'd end up with a 650b 5 instead.

Hi i need to identify a Clockwork, from a P7 or C16R HELP

Hi I know this is a slight change from the topic hear but I need some advice,
I am trying to find out what the difference is between the mid 90s CLOCKWORK, P7, AND THE C16R, as they all look very much alike, Is there any identifying fetchers, or parts of the frames that tell them apart?? as I can not really tell???
If any one could maybe tell me where to look, or what to look for it would be very much appreciated as I don't want to bye this frame labelled as a clockwork, to later find its a P7 or otherwise.
Any advice will be very much appreciated
Thank you..

There's many differences over the years but a rough guide would be:

Most Clockworks were made from Tange Infinity tubes. The c16 was the new name for the Clockwork in 1994/5 but used Orange branded tubes (series 7.2?). The P7 had wider tubes that were called series 8 I think?

If you defo want a Clockwork an easy way to make sure is to buy one that has an Infinity decal, one that's orange/white fade and one that does not have all three cables routed along the top tube.

iv have oil clockwork but has no numbers on the bottom they have not been removed it just don't have any, ive been told its a 1989 how do I find out its age I can put up pics when my lap top is working again,,

Will be good to see some pics when you can, to help identify.

The frame number on my 1989 run up the side of the seat tube, below the front mech band on the non-drive side. This may be because the mech cables are routed under the bb... Necessitating covering the bb shell with a plastic guide so any number would only be partially visible.
