Francesco Moser - single didget frame number

Saycombe

Retro Newbie
Hi - help please! new to the site...

I have owned a Francesco Moser, Campione Del Mondo 'San Cristobal' with Campag Super Record for over 20 years (not from new), but have not ridden it for the past 15 years. It is beyond my restoration capability and I am therefore thinking of selling it as a project, to someone capable of offering the tlc it deserves. Before doing so I am trying to establish if the frame number (in this case '09') could have a bearing on value?

I would also appreciate any pointers as to where to sell, link to ebay through this site?

Any advice greatly appreciated...

Hi Saycombe and welcome to the forum.

You have tantalised us with your brief description of a wonderful bike. I'm sure plenty of us would love to see some pics.

I can't help regarding the single digit serial number - perhaps others can. It might be worth a look on Classic Rendezvouz.

Where to sell ? - I think E-bay is pretty good. I'd make it available overseas on your listing - some pretty good prices are paid by US and Canadian buyers for classic lugged steel. International sale will increase your pool of potential buyers by quite a bit. Certainly put a link on here.

Good luck,

David

I will post some pics but failed at first attempt due to file sizes...bit of a novice

Francesco Moser - single didget frame number on ebay

Thanks again for your help. Having failed to link pictures to my posting, I've decided to take my chances on ebay - you can see some pics on there. I don't think I can attach a link until I've done five postings, but it's easy to find as I think its the only one for sale in the UK at present.

I'm still interested if anyone can confirm whether a single didget frame number means it was early off the production line?

I'm sure someone will bag a bargin...

I've put a link in the E-bay section, here.
I see there is no mention in your description of the tubing type - is there a sticker, specifying the tubing type, on the frame at all? It is a useful piece of information for bidders. Yor listing looks as though oit is collection only, although you state in the description you could post/ courier - you'll broaden your audience to mention it in the postage section, up front.

Doing a quick Google search, a few other San Cristobel bikes and frames appeared - they had Columbus SL stickers. Apparently the scene of F. Moser's 1977 World championship victory.
Your bike has some rather nice kit on it, too. And my size, but I'm just buying a Pinarello (like buses, these Italian throughbreds!).

Good luck,

David

Appreciate your help with the link.

I'm pretty sure it is Columbus SL but there is no sticker and I didn't want to state that as I can't back it up.

Could not find a way to mention postage by arrangement other than in the boby text without it all getting complicated - I guess those that are interested will read through anyway...

Cheers again.
