Well.... I've decided that I've read enough topics here to show you my first (retro, rebuild) bike
It's not-so-high-end Diamondback Sorrento, 1994 model:
originally built with Alivio - I decided to upgrade it a bit.
To be honest - I bough the frame and rebuild the bike in 2010, but it was last year when my Kate decided to use it for real -
so now I stripped it to the bare frame to clean it all a bit and patch the wounds
And this is the first time I managed to weight it - ooops,
cro-mo / hi-ten plain gauge combination... it was always quite heavy in my hand, but I didn't expected 3000 grams :>
fork is decent though, with 980 grams.
Well, I asked Kate if she want to switch to some other frame, and was told she loves this one
(as expected)
There's one thing that puzzles me - how was it possible to make such lowish/lower quality frame, with not-so-exciting groupset,
and so fantastic paintjob???
The paint is "Purple Illusion" (as seen on catalogue page) and it's great - I'll try to make some decent photos is the sun next week.
Anyway - all hardware has been cleaned and lubricated, group photo for documentation sake:
(most of it was nearly NOS in 2010, not so much now
)
To the workshop!
