Hi dear Retrobike friends
,
I am busy with putting brakes on my Pro FRO ('95 I think). 1st option would be ControlTech V, but it seems they don't fit. Diameter of the begin part (where there is paint) of the stud/mount is too big and does not allow sliding of the ControlTech over it. So I tried....
XTII - doesn't fit
DX - nope
XT V - idem
Campa - forget it
It seems of what I have laying only the Grafton Johnny Jewel and Suntour XC9000 have holes/housings in a diameter large enough ...but the Graftons are already reserved for another bike and the XC9000s are 80s brakes. Problems
I prefer to stick to my ControlTechs, also because there is a ControlTech theme going on for the build.
Okay, now my questions: Is this commom for Pro FRO?
Is it the powdercoat? If so, how to remove it?
On the later: The point is my Miyata BigChamp uses a 100% identical looking stud/mount (curves, edges, proportions, even codes), but with the forks I do not face the problem. They are chromed or have a wet paint. This made me think it is the coating on the Yeti, but I can see.
