Re: New project, 1993 Yeti ARC - I am very very happy :)

Thanks for your help guys :)

I think I'm going with the ATAC stem and that's covered in original decals already so no need for more.

On a slightly more annoying but no doubt sortable note, the very nice looking Chris King 1 1/4" Gripnut headset I bought along with the frame has a missing part, the internal threaded collar. I've emailed the seller so hoping to sort it out.
I had my suspicions something was up as he'd suggested I could fit it on the steerer without threads by just chopping the long steerer he'd sold me down leaving a non threaded section ?!

I've also emailed Chris King to see if they stock the missing part. It does look like I still need another threaded Manitou steerer/crown :(

Cheers Ian, looks like I have the decals correct but appreciate your help.

In regards to the seller, I m not sure if he's confused about how the Chris King gripnut works but it definitely needs the missing threaded section and a threaded steerer. He's been a good chap to deal with so far so sure he'll sort this mistake out one way or another.

In the meantime I have put a wanted ad up for a threaded Manitou steerer around 170mm long in either 1 1/4" or 1 1/8".

I have headset cup inserts so could use a 1 1/8" Chris King gripnut headset if I can find one as the ATAC stem is also a 1 1/8" quill type that I was going to shim up to 1 1/4".

Re: New project, 1993 Yeti ARC - I am very very happy :)

Your welcome Tim and just glad to know the decals are all correctly positioned ;) ..

Well the seller just maybe lacking in knowledge regarding how the Chris King grip nut works and tbh i've never used one so that's something i've yet to experience in time but i do understand that the grip nut fits in a certain way so like me he must need to learn about the relevant parts and how they work so any way hoping he's eager to sort out the situation for you so you can progress with your build ..

Fingers crossed that someone replies to your wanted add pretty soon Tim so you can move on with this ..

I'm not keen on using shims but if it resolves your situation and seems to keep things in order ie; tightens up nice and secure then that could keep things on the go but would you really be happy about it ? ..

Re: New project, 1993 Yeti ARC - I am very very happy :)

The gent builds a very good bike so hopefully he'll realise the mistake.

Re shims I'm not adverse to using them as long as they are the correct size it should be no issue.

Really hope I can sort this out without much fuss :(

Great project Minifreak, so nice bike and parts.
I like this color. I will follow later.

Thanks mojo ti, it's down to the great guys on here that I've managed to get the parts together including that beautiful frame :D
It's proving a little troublesome right now but once I have a couple more correct parts it'll come together very nicely I think.

Cannot wait for its first proper ride.

Re: New project, 1993 Yeti ARC - I am very very happy :)

That's good to know that he's pretty good at bike building but i'll still keep my fingers crossed that he comes good for you ;) ..

Well like i say i'm not a fan of shims myself but as long as your happy then that's all that matters although i may just change my mind when i get to see it for real :? ..

Well if it get's too much trouble just send it to me with the parts and i'll sort it although it may take a while  ..
