I gave up smoking after realizing it was a total habit. I never smoked in the house cos my wife had never smoked so just didn't in the evenings if we stayed in.
I would get up in the morning, get in my car and depending on which direction i was leaving the village would spark up at the same point every time be it a junction or going past a pub etc.
I would also time it so i would have one just before i reached my customer.
i gave up by going "cold turkey" (made easier with a non smoking wife) the 1st week is the worst but if you can get past that it gets easier.
Unfortunately i gave in four years later when pi*sed at a party
Smoked again for another 4 years and then went "cold turkey" again. That was 12 years ago but i now realize that any taste of tobacco and i'd be on them again so avoid them like the plague.Thankfully i have very few friends that smoke anymore.
