Despicable NOTW

The people who'll lose there jobs on Monday with the NOTW going (pending new Sunday rag appearing in a month or so) in general weren't the "bad guys".

I'm firmly in the "this is a bit of a media stunt" camp - It wasn't the "NOTW", it was the people who were running it - those who were in charge at the time were either guilty of in-competence (if they didn't know what was going on around them), or far worse because they did know what was going on.

Getting rid of the papers name/title is nothing but window dressing.

Agree. But it does seem to be doing damage to the Murdoch empire. Which is good news.

I doubt it will in the long run. This is clearly a damage limitation exercise, he's not daft.

It may well do some damage - there's a chance Ofcom won't let his bSkyb takeover go through because of this fiasco....

And look forward to seeing the Sun on Sunday/Sunday Sun in a few weeks on your news stands....

We must remember that amongst all this "damage limitation" that the damage that has already been done is severe and its not enough that a few journos go, the axe should be falling on the wicked witch of the west and cameron's ex spin doctor who are the architects of all this.

Also more pressure must be placed on the government to establish how this all happened and why the police seemed to be in on the whole shebang including officers being paid for stories.

I for one will not miss the NOTW one bit but how long before the Sunday sun rears it's hideous head?

As I understand it that's a decision for ministers, not Ofcom. It'll be approved because of the "clear and decisive action" taken over the NOTW. (Or something along those lines).

I don't really see the fuss about Murdoch anyway.

It's not a story that interests me particularly. Big news today but generally it seems blown out of proportion to me.

A whole lot of Murdoch venom going round though. :)
