Sorry fella. We were taken into the EEC, and then there was a referendum afterwards to legitimise that decision. Nobody was informed in 1974 that the EEC would turn from a regional trading bloc into an undemocratic, unaccountable, totalitarian super-state.

Won't they have done that just to avoid an investigation by the competition commision (or whate ever they are called) as it removes any need to have a formal investigation on News Corp by the CC. A negative outcome on the CC invetsigation (especially if it cited "unsuitability of the senior management") would have had major negative affects on News Corp.

That might be News Corp's intention, but the two public enquiries are still going ahead...

....and I think I heard on BBC News 24 that Ofcom are going to investigate whether News Corp are "fit and proper" owners of their existing 39% slice of BSkyB... :shock:

And I now read elsewhere that the cystic fibrosis story almost certainly wasn't by subterfuge and that it may have been deliberately planted to deflect attention from that day's 'bad news for Labour' story.

I haven't read The Sun for about 15 years. But they might just say it because it's true. I haven't heard of them denying anything else...

Well presumably because they're the ones who'll suffer for it. And if it isn't true they'd be stupid not to deny it.

I'm no fan of the Sun or NOTW but the way the media (read competitors) are tearing Murdoch apart smacks of opportunism in the extreme. Taking shots at a competitor and successful and influential businessman into the bargain? They're loving it.

Would they be so vigorous if it was a non media company in question?
