No of course they are not Tesco, but, like Tesco, are they becoming too dominant in the cycle world.

Hands up...I have bought from them, they offer great prices now and again, service is good....but are they slowly squeezing everyone else out of the market. I understand they own several UK distribution rights and if you are a cycle trader you have to buy from them

Is this healthy?

I know my local bike shop seems to need to price match against crc, leaving feck all profit.

Is this good?

No...I will no longer buy from CRC and will now buy everything I can from my lbs...it might take a bit longer and may cost a few quid more, but I want a bike shop in my hood.

Oh yes...where did I start...Tesco. Out of every pound spent in the UK, how much is spent in Tesco. It is a frightening amount...and local traders and independents are suffering.

Cheap is not always good.

I think the oft-quoted statistic is that for every £8 spent in the UK, £1 will be spent in Tesco.

Easy to understand though, I bought 2 tyres from my lbs, they cost 25% more and took a month to arrive in the shop for me to pick up. Crc deliver to my work. I knew it would be like that before I ordered them but wanted to support my lbs.

CRC is the LBS to Australia now. Mostly because its incredibly cheap, has a huge range, and can post to australia faster than you can post inside australia.
Must admit I buy loads from there... and wiggle
...but having said that, instead of buying new cranks/chain/widgets I made a special trip the my actual lbs, hit chainring with hammer and got a new chain, had a good long chat.

CRC - Pedals ordered Sunday, 23.14. Delivered 09.18 on Tuesday. 30% cheaper than shitty, grumpy, elitist LBS. Feck 'em. CRC for me. :D

Disgusting. I don't go anywhere near their shops. Stay way from One Stop too, also part of the Tesco group.

To be honest, because they are selling bicycle stuff they are promoting bicycles and cycling in general.

Whole different kettle of fish to Tesco in my mind.
