Never had any problem with CRC and they seem to be a good source of hard to find parts.
Also use LBS (Merlin and Leisure Lakes) and have had good experience with them too.

Ultimately for me it's about service - if it's good I'll use them again and recommend to others, if not I won't use them again and will share my bad experience with others - simple!

I would disagree. You'll be paying for it somehow. I wonder if that's why Asda is cheaper, because they don't offer loyalty vouchers. So those £200 clubcard vouchers you have are the £200 I have spent less at Asda. We both pay/get the same in the end. But Tesco now have your 'loyalty'.

I may be wrong, but suspect that's what is the reality.

The clubcard is just for tracking, nothing else.

Had this conversation with someone the other day. Everone I know hates Tesco, but most of them shop there.

A friend of mine bought a laptop in Tesco @£150 less than even the cheapest price on the net for the same item.

I don't shop at Tesco, I won't. I do have the luxury of being able to spend time shopping around, which I understand many others don't. I do like Sainsbury's (keeps the riff-raff out of Waitrose), and Asda have some good deals, although I wonder how much they must be screwing their suppliers to get the deals they do, or maybe their margins are tiny.

Profit is for the sane, turnover is for the vain.

I work near the CRC showroom and often pop in there for bits & bobs, you could say it's my LBS, despite the gleaming displays of bikes & parts I'd need to sell a kidney to afford I find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable, on occasion I've bought a part not 100% sure if it's correct and been told "no worries, if it doesn't fit just bring it back". Also saw a nice Cannondale Raven in there for a service a while back. If I'm feeling really lazy I'll just order online and get free next day delivery rather than waste money on petrol (even though it's less than a 10mile journey ).

I like CRC, as a consumer I can get what I want, when I want it, at a price I'm happy with. I can understand that ultimately this may be detrimental to smaller LBS's but although I have a fondness for retrobikes, that doesn't mean I want to see retro-bike shops everywhere either.

When the politicians stop taking back-handers.

When the councils stop letting 'them' build yet another montrous out-of-town shopping site (probably no more than 2 miles away from another montrous shopping site) because 'they' will plant a few trees or build a few affordable houses etc etc

Unfortunately, online shops like CRC and Wiggle get my custom because of the attitude or lack of knowledge of my lbs. If you don't ride some track or fixie one isn't interested and if you don't buy a £4000 downhill monster another isn't.

Then there's Evans. Jack of all trades, master of none as the old saying goes. Rubbish even for spares I'd call absolutely necessary. Went in there for a brake noodle and was told that "nobody has v-brakes anymore because it's all discs now". Cue going online in the coffee shop next door and picking up a v-brake noodle from the mat at my house the following day having come from CRC.

It really is no surprise thatr CRC/Wiggle are used a lot when you get examples like that.
