As an IBD, I don't perceive CRC to be a problem as such.
One thing that "proper" bike shops never talk about is that CRC sells stuff to people who can't always fit it correctly, who then have to come to people like me to have it fitted properly. Now I'm there anyway but it means that I got some extra work I otherwise wouldn't have. And a potential new regular customer to boot.
The only stores that should be perceiving CRC to be a problem, are ones that don't have a proper workshop and competent mechanic - as the workshop should be contributing a significant part of the shop's income.
And frankly, I think CRC prices seem to be increasing - apart from clearout prices, which all shops do when they want to free up some capital to buy newer stock. IN theory, I am able to sell Hope for the same price as CRC can sell Hope to my territory for. But I don't need to as I can offer a deal on having it fitted, which CRC can't.
