Interesting - I'm running a 120mm stem and it's right for me - BUT I have a fair bit of backsweep on the bars and an inline post. I tried a layback post at first and the front end was trying to lift all the time uphill.
The original stock stem for 18" was 115mm. It's funny how close to that I ended up - shows they really did know what they were doing!!!
