burn me on a stake I've modernised my 94 lava dome

On a different note, I priced up a rear disc mount at mercian cycles and they want around 70 quid, does this sound right ?

Those measurements sound about right, with a long ruler measuring the forks on the bike (i.e some error) the reba has an a to c of around 470mm and my judy 430mm. Three next trial is the reba dropped down to 80mm.
Which should give an A-C of 435mm @ 25% sag, or 431mm @ 30% sag

A 65mm Judy with a 430mm A-C will give a 413mm A-C @ 25% sag

But these are just figures. It's what the bike rides like that really matters

So long as you don't snap the head tube off by running the forks too long...*

* highly doubt this would happen, but you never know ;)

Edited to make my point...

...and this is how to post a constructive reply; and the fig's speak for themselves...

...around 20mm difference; which is what I said all along

So the 100mm z4 airs i have should be ok on my lava dome then???

Suck it and see;

The longer travel the fork, the more sag you set them up with because rebound is just as important as compression. I wouldn't go over 100mm on an XC bike though

I have a Manïtou 4 I've stretched to 100mm and not only does it ride fine, it looks the dogs' too 8)

Well I have them pumped up too much at the mo lol and rebuilt them with 10w oil so they are a bit solid ha ha.

I like the MKII build. Looks very urban and purposeful

Looks good geometry-wise as well

- Agreed on the matching tyres point

- But I also wonder how will you be attaching your rear caliper? Adapter? Frame modification??? Surely there is no disc tab?

To be honest I haven;t decided what to do about the rear disc, at the moment its just running a V brake. The rotor was just there as I couldn;t be bothered to take it off.

I'm tempted to have a disc tab brazed onto it

I've had disc front/V rear on a '95 Kona for years -- Avid BB7 front brake so you can use matching levers, and Speed Dial levers can be twiddled to make the brakes feel the same.

This ^^ - I've still got a bike ('95 Kilauea) set up like that. Works very well 8).
