xtr m900 is not only longer lasting than same period's xt but it's finish is way above in quality. the standard gearing wins over compact imho.
it does get quite pricey these days. a m900 crank will cost 2x more than a later xtr m952. thing is: the m900 will keep looking top class while the grey xtr looks like cr@p all scratched up. not to mention the octalink BBs..
somene said fats dress well w/ later non period correct parts and i think it's real. their lay out is modern and aggressive looking. the more original and scratched you keep it the better will look w/ modern parts.
get a marz. bomber up front. or a BOI.
