Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organisation because they're not an official army and because Israel are close friends with the US, who are the moral authority of the world and hence tell us what's right and what's wrong based on how it suits their own agenda and that of their closest allies.

Palestina can't have an actual army because Israel would then have proper targets (bases, training camps etc) to wipe out. So basically they're resorting to fighting the oppressor using guerrilla warfare, as any smart group would do.

Back in WW II, the Belgian army surrendered after being overrun. We basically had no more army and were occupied by a foreign power. However there were several organisations (Groupe G, Armée Secrète, MNR, Partisans Armés, etc) that started smuggling food and weapons as well as sabotaging and attacking the Germans whenever they saw an opportunity. They also helped allied forces and jews (the oppressor's targets) hide among regular families.
Sound familiar? Does that mean we were terrorists too?

In this conflict over 95% of the victims are falling on one side. That's not warfare or self-defense, it's genocide.

Re:

The protest manifested as resignation is just crazy, almost as though she was advised to.

I have it that politics is all ballot box decisions and parliament thrash -outs.
The pen mightier than the sword and, all that.
It seems a great contradiction that a prominent person in high political order should resign on grounds of that the dealings in that part of the world are not ideal. I mean, despite who arms, supplies and funds whoever else....It's the assholes that actually pull the trigger, press the button that should have guilt for the disgusting humanitarian crisis there.

In fact, it's not a good global reflection on our government that the weaker politicians simply resign on personal issues rather than making their point in the correct manner.
So, what now? where does the future lead for somebody who spends such time and energy getting to where they are but, then resign when things are getting tough/touchy?

DO YOUR JOB!

If the Belgian army hadn't took their boots off and ran like hell in the opposite direction they might not have been overrun quite so easily.

Fun fact: Hamas won an election.

They are the legitimate government of the Gaza Strip, as chosen by it's residents. That democracy thing, yes?

Hell, it's not even most of them who do any fighting. The army is called the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. They wear uniforms, do drills, marches, etc.

They're called terrorists because that's what the west call anyone who's brown and does something they don't like. If you're white and bomb a school and shoot up the place, you're just "unwell" and "mentally ill". This has even been the case when Mr Whitey Cracker McKillingSpree puts his political views on tape.

I suppose we still grandfather in the IRA, them having been around since way before Islamophobia and anti-arab racism became popular.

How the west flipflops...

Hamas are internernationally designated as a terrorist organisation by literally hundreds of other nations because their only manifesto pledge is the destruction of a sovereign and democratic state by the means of unlawful force. Its nothing to do with being friends with anyone, and solely because of their promises and actions.

See my above post, more or less the same. It stinks of ass-kiss or some other dodgy maneuver.

"we need to put our country in order."

Now, she cannot put didley squat in order on behalf of her constituants, they have been robbed.

Like i say, it stinks of more than 'principal' or being purely 'against the grain'. polititians have a pre-requisite to be tough like that, thinking more of the bigger picture etc.....
