The lying UK government is telling us that the NHS is under pressure from an ageing population and not immigrants and health tourists.

This so called ageing population have worked all their lives, hell some have even fought for the country and have paid tax and National Insurance.

Every time you post I think you can't get any more ignorant but there you go again.

About 11m of the population is over 65. Net immigration is about 200k a year. If we started with zero 'bleeding immigrants taking our jobs and our women and our NHS' it would take 55 years before before they outweighed the coffin dodgers. Even if we don't start from zero it would still take decades to exceed the number of older people even if their number was static. Clue - the number of old people will continue to grow by a rate that exceeds that of immigration not least because all the 60's baby boomers hitting 65.

Cluestick #2 - Guess which group gets more sick?

Luckily the NHS doesn't pay for people's healthcare all over the world, so I don't know why you're bringing it up. Anyone who's in the UK can go to our hospitals, though, which isn't the same thing.
Interesting that's the point you contested. I haven't read the story- who is paying?

AFAICS from the guidance foreign nationals can use NHS facilities but usually have to pay. Which isn't the same as you appear to be suggesting, and and certainly what some people are thinking, in that the NHS is free to anyone in the UK.

The point he is making (and which you unintentionally backed up) is that those millions of baby boomers have contributed for 40 years. Immigrants haven't.

I was at the dentist last week and after having paid £££ for private treatment there were about 8 Roma in the waiting area booking in for their next appointment. The girl was asking if they needed an interpreter for the next one as well. That's the sort of thing that pisses people off, not just that we pay in and immigrants get it free, but because they can't be arsed to learn English we have to fund expensive interpreters for them as well. And as the dentists get next to nothing for NHS treatments it's my private work that subsidises them. So I pay twice and they pay f all. Seems fair.

I know I'm not really in a position to mod this thread anymore because I'm involved, but still ...

This thread is about Baroness Warsi, and actually the entire israel-Gaza discussion is already off-topic. (yup, I know  )

However let's not get too far off topic and refrain from insults.

I notice Baroness Warsi isn't so upset about the situation as to give up her Baronesscy and all the income and privilege that goes with it.

From wiki

"Life peers created under the Life Peerages Act do not, unless they also hold ministerial positions, receive salaries. They are, however, entitled to daily allowance of £300 for travel and accommodation on signing in each day, though there is no requirement to take part in the business of the House."

So basically she did lose her salary when she resigned.

Been out riding my bike for a couple of hours. Have we found world peace yet?

Bit hard to discuss her resignation without talking about why she resigned.

Besides, what's the point of trying to force a conversation on to a topic everyone's already done? It's natural that when you talk to people you go onto other subjects. It'd just as easily go back to the original one if anyone had anything to say about it.
