I dumped this pic into Chat GPT…

And was delighted to find out that it is infact a Zaskar….

“Yes — that’s a GT Zaskar frame.

A few details that give it away:
  • The triple-triangle design (with the seat stays joining the top tube before the seat tube) is GT’s signature feature, and the Zaskar is one of their most iconic models.
  • The polished aluminum finish with the GT decals in that style was used on Zaskars in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
  • The welds around the head tube and bottom bracket are very typical of GT’s high-end aluminum frames from that era.”
Excitedly, I asked what the frame was worth and was delighted to be told…
  • Ask for $275–$350 if it’s straight and cosmetically average; use “Best Offer” to gauge interest. For a mint/rare finish try $450+. (These suggested asks reflect current eBay/market listings.)
What have I learned? AI takes its answers from the collective knowledge of the internet, I have learned that the internet doesn’t know what it’s talking about and overvalues old bike frames.

Of course, Chat GPT could be very clever and might be talking about the genuine Zaskar LE tucked away in the bottom right hand corner, but I doubt it.

Probably in the next 12 months you'll be able to send out your customised AI 'buy bike stuff' Agent and not only will it find you a GT Zaskar, it'll haggle for you, arrange a courier, pay for it and inform you stage by stage of its transport, oh, and probably resolve any problems resulting. All you'll need to do is say 'buy me a Zaskar for this much' and it'll do the rest

Unfortunately that's not science fiction. Don't be fooled by the 'Donald Trump wears nylons ' photos. AI Agents will revolutionise buying anything. And soon!

If my hugely scientific experiment is any indicator, what will happen is I’ll ask it to find me a Zaskar and I will end up paying over the odds for a Pantera.

Progress.
