I have what is in many respects the best bike I have ever owned. And curiously, also one of the worst.
It has der*****s. It doesn't fit me that well, feels much too small. I'll probably get used to it, but it isn't right. Good quality, for sure; Tange Prestige frame, Hope wheels. But totally wrong for me. But the thing I like about it is this. Since the Irish traveller types cleared me out, I have slept better at night. I haven't spent hours travelling through the adverts on here. I have a bike. I ride it sometimes. I'm not attached to this one at all.
I love looking at your bikes and count many of you as personal friends, but am I going to get to the stage where I have 18 bikes or projects again? Give over. I'll have this one, and another for when this one isn't working. The other one will have a Sturmey hub, and this one will live in my engine bay as a spare. They'll take me to work, and the shops, and the occasional pleasure run. But neither will be a garage queen, or period correct; they'll work well, but no more.
