97 Zaskar - What do you think?

It wasnt a cirticism as such, just a personal preference. I have same issue coming up transfering disc wheels to a non-disk rear marin full susser.

It wasn't taken badly at all. bikes is just one of those things everyone has there own preference and thats why its grate 8) Truth be told kinda think its not a GT if it hasn't got a u-brake on the back  but that's just what GT's are in my head from when I was a kid

I have to say its a stunning looking bike. love the white, no more endlessly polishing and replacing decals cause the polishing has taken the top layer off (like the set I put on my 96 that gave up at the first wiff of polish). What do you think to how it rides with the "to long fork"? I have 100mm up front on my 96 and I love the way it rides. And the outline decals? A stroke of genius :) . This build is making me re-think my 96 zaskar.

thanks chap. pleased you like the outline decals. that was a bit of a meeting of minds between myself and gil_m. I saw a couple of Kona's with white white and liked it. thought i'd come up with my version.

the forks are 80mm travel and haven't been adapted. I had 100mm forks on before, some marzocchi's and the front end tramlined with them - felt very odd.

it rides lovely with these. just when i can ensure the cranks don't fall off.

Yeah there is a whole load of 97 zaskars - its weird isnt it?! Not many in red like mine either. Nice having something a bit different. Mine and yours couldnt be more different really! Singlespeed v geared. Flat v risers. Rigid v bounce!

true, true. we could have a race and see which is the best?

You'd have to race mine, im too unfit. Might as well be riding an gate sizzed GT outpost (no offence to Outpost owners - I know they are ok just a tad portly)

Not the biggest fan of double discs with the use of adaptors to be honest. Prefer the original posters (trickylads) rim brakes, especially on the rear. Just looks better to me.

100% agree. It does look nicer, no doubt. And I really like how all parts goes together with trickylad's Zaskar. The only reason in my case which forced me jump to discs was Scottish fine mud and constantly wet conditions.
It's always a battle between look, period correctness and functionality.

:D

Great thread, made me laugh. Good bike Mr Tricky young man, looks classy.

The only thing that looked kinda weird to me was the length of the grips...they've pushed the levers quite close to the stem  or are my eyes deceiving me
