Missed out on this as a complete bike a couple of years ago so when fate recently beckoned I grabbed the frameset as consolation.
Fortunately I had a pretty much all the period parts required to build it up, it's not the lovely full M732 XT that it would've been in 89 but the Wolber concave rims, Deore Thumbies plus XT U brake give me all the retro vibes I need.
531 tubing and it rides just great.

Nice ride! I'm starting to build up an almost identical Europe Express frame soon. Do you know, what is the type of BB threading?
 
Thanks. I recall it was standard English thread on this one.

The stem, however, was not a std 1". I guess it's a French standard.

The frame has an original Belgium shop sticker.
 
there is no french standard for stems -they werent that fernickety


its either 21.1, 22.2, then 25.4 and so on


in your case 22.2mm

Thanks. My knowledge of diameters outside of the famous two is borderline non-existent.

Loving the saddle in that image... Food for thought
