531 'thing' - 15/10/10 update

superb... dare I ask the weight? I est. 33lbs! I have a similar frame in the shed that I just haven't found the funds to get cracking on. I was considering a klunker style build, but an 18/21 speed tourer seems far a more useful application for the old girl:

doubt creeping in on the origins of this frame - could be one of the Overbury's Pathfinder range - which is nice, badge snoberry and all that...

anyway. A bit more bling with some Frogleggs and BMX inspired mushroom grips to keep it mid '80's period.

Its a cracking ride as the frame size is spot on. Cant wait to take it out in anger. However, the M700 rear mech is AWFUL!!! Its so poor at shifting compared to the cheapest slant parallelogram mech :D

Looks great, that gold highlight on the lugs looks the nuts!
So you may be leaving the Saracen club and moving up in the world...

Big ring - Big ring  i can feel the pain!

It looks the business.
That's a proper mountain bike.

...but some of those cables could be a little bit shorter.

Saddle & pedals looking a little different in this shot...?

Love it though, there's a few things I'd have different but don't wish to criticise so I'm just going to say I think it's ace 8)
For now...

Nitto 'bull-moose' bars, NOS!

Deore touring chainset with M700 (FC-6206) rings
