Unfortunately this 1984 Saracen ATB is too small for me and although I would love to keep it as a piece of UK MTB history, my garage is full.
I think it is a pretty early example of one of the original Saracen UK built bikes. The components are all stamped May/June 1984 - I am pretty sure it is all original too.
Reynolds 501 Tubing (size) 18" seat tube and 22.5" top tube
Frame is in pretty good original condition - some surface rust in the usual places but nothing that should come off
Suntour/Sugino kit
Shimano PD200 pedals (seized - but I've not tried to service them)
Brooks B66 saddle (cleaned and proofed)
Seat post isn't seized
Chain was rusty and cut off and binned
Rear mech cable was cut but I kept the housing for measurement
Price - I think £300 is a fair price for one of the first UK made MTBs with some desirable kit which only requires pretty minimal restoration (new cables, grips, tires and a good clean/polish/rebuild)
