1996-1998 Klein Attitude Comp?

So I picked up this Klein this week and currently working on figuring out the year. I belive the frame is adorned with earlier parts. Full of M900 XTR.... Crook Brothers Racing Cranks. Serial number 22P109618, thinking 96' but ChatGPT says it's 98'. In 98 they didn't offer a red frame. Any additional information about the bike is appreciated.

I can't help exactly but looking online there are various examples of the same frame claiming dates from 97-99.

All I can say is that the xtr on the frame predates it by a good few years as xtr m900 came out in 92 I think.

I think the fact that it has a removable mech hanger will help with the year as will the standard head tube. My guess would be 97/8, but it's a guess.

According to Wikipedia, trek bought Klein in 1995. I've seen 1997 and 1999 Kleins with Trek 'WTU' frame numbers so I think it predates 1997. It may even be earlier than 1995.

@Cactus459

It’s a 1997 ATTITUDE COMP. Originally lx/xt mix with
R/S Indy forks. I think the colour was called burning sand or something like that. Chehalis made frame, not a Waterloo (Trek) frame.

Threaded bb, 1 1’8” headset and non replaceable mech hanger

I think you nailed it. In 97 they had the burning sand color. If I am reading the serial number right, it was built in October 96 as a 97 release. I checked the rear derailleur hanger and it is not replaceable. Thank you
