1989 Overbury’s Pioneer. Finished

Thought I’d pop the crankset on, but unfortunately the 117mm wasn’t anywhere near long enough to deal with the Biopace rings and the chain line was way out.
fortunately I had a long one (I think 124mm) in the spares box. Not Shimano but the chain line is spot on. D13920A6-09EF-4A11-A1B9-3529F5E1730C.jpeg E4AE4596-D125-460D-86CC-44159F5D5189.jpeg

Thought about using a NOS white 1” headset, but it just clashed too much with the white head tube/fork/stem. The white needed breaking up so I went with an old chrome Shimano I previously removed from an ‘89 Claud.

Thought I’d crack on whilst I had some peace.
‘89 Lambda Flag saddle on a ‘93 Kalloy dressed up as an XT. Got this a lot cheaper than they’re being sold on eBay. Silly I know but looks ok.
Proper XT hubs again from 1989 on Araya RM20 rims finished off with my best set of Farmer John’s Cousin’s.
kalloy stem from 1989 & the SR powerbulge bar that came with it. Both with a fresh coat of white.
Last but not least a tidy UN72 in the re-cut threads.

Its looking real good, but you totally avoided answering the question, you said it was for your wife, now thats either BS excuse so you dont upset the Claud Brigade, or your wife has STUNNING LONG LEGS....?

What? When did I say anything about my wife?
What question?

**Edit** just found your question. I couldn’t work out why you were asking it so I hadn’t bothered answering. Sorry.

Looking most excellent! Who did the paint - I don't think I've seen you mention so far?
Powder & Paint of East Cottingham in East Yorkshire

See the purple one? Well it’s my wife now.

So what up?
Well a few things;

1. It’s as rough as a badgers arse.
2. It’s purple.
3. 1&2 are easily Peachyfied but will the OB massive get upset if I change the colour?
4. Are the straight forks original kit? As I can only find something similar on a Pioneer E-stay, also this one doesn’t have the trademark fork crown/shoulders or a frame number stamp, or mudguard eyes.
5. I had bought this with the idea in mind of cleaning it up & moving it on, not for profit just enough to wipe my face, but now I’ve been playing with THM’s new love https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/incoming-overbury’s-again.425893/
I’m starting to have second thoughts. So are they any good? Is it worth sticking the best 90’s odd and sods I’ve got on it? Or would it make more sense to use a tidy 1989 Exage Country group on it?
Answers on a post card please.
Ah, maybe i read it wrong then...., You called it your wife, not for your wife.., Dam i was looking forward to that......lol.

Is it not a bit big for you then....?

No it’s perfect as although THM is almost 2” taller than me, we both have a 34” inside leg.

I’ve been called in for my tea... and told in no uncertain terms that Saturday night is not for bike tinkering 😕 1735D038-60F4-4905-9823-944D9581D371.jpeg
