1988 Cannondale SM1000 Red Shred - Finished

Re:

don't know whether you care, but I'm pretty sure the top tube decal is from a bike shop a little down the road from me here in Belgium: http://www.filipsport.com/en/
It's very well possible the bike was sold new there, as they hopped on the MTB bandwagon very early, and they've always been into premium brands.

In any case: kudos for doing the job properly!

Many thanks for that, much appreciated, great bit of info to have with the bike!

Spent a few hours on the dale' final prime and base coat, maybe get a couple of coats of red on next weekend.

Re: 1988 Cannondale SM1000 Red Shred

I have a feeling that I am shortly going to regret not buying this - not that I have the skills or equipment to paint it myself

Ta, it's a long way off yet though, hopefully ready for a spin in the summer.

Just bagged this Nitto twin bolt canti stem on the bay, looks pretty close to the one in the pictured in the 88 catalogue.

Re:

Looking forward to this one. I picked one of these up in the summer. Had it repainted as a '89. Let e know where you sourced the top tube cable guides. I still need three.

Luckily new ones came with the frame, I have another cannondale frame in the post and that also will need guides, after a bit of searching I found this site.

These I believe are all that's available now, I think all the originals were burnt in a fire at cannondales factory years ago.

Excellent, I just ordered some. Thanks for the tip!

Re:

You do see the original A113 guides come up on eBay every now and again. I've ordered those ones from Shapeways and they do the job fine.
