Weigh 531C with canti stops £85 north wales

That figures, am amazed he got 42 in the rear chainstays tbh. 30mm CX tyres are aok IMHO but I do realise current trend is towards ever wider rubber. It's still a great buy, if I didn't have one already I would have grabbed it myself. Maybe I should sell the purple one on Sunday.

Weigh 531C with canti stops £85 north wales

PS - I have this project in the workshop at the moment 'Bob Jackson' tourer morphing into 'gravel slag'. - hopefully finished by Sunday. It will have 2x7 vintage drivetrain (suntour and 105 mechs with sora brifters replacing the old suntour downtube shifters) for now but could...

Weigh 531C with canti stops £85 north wales

I will be bringing some 531 retro frames / bikes to the cycle jumble on Sunday (seller 24 by BMX centre) , some finished, some 'projects'. The A4Studios summer open day was ok thanks but ill-timed roadworks all weekend by council meant hardly anyone could get there by car without...

Weigh 531C with canti stops £85 north wales

yup its the same one, looks like it moved a short distance from North Wales to Chester, un molested though - original ad says sold. I would say its a bargain - the wheels are worth that alone and the Shimano 600 mech and shifters , plus matching brake levers will raise the same...

    Vintage French randonneuer's and porteurs.

I just picked up a slightly newer ( 1983 I reckon) Mirage Sport from its original owner in Lancashire - who used it daily to go to work and back, original apart from rear wheel that had to be replaced due to buckled rim.... I was going to flip this at this Sunday's bike jumble...

that's quite enough tinkering for this weekend, some finessing needed and a chain but most of the build done, there are always things I would and probably will change...

did some rummaging in the workshop today and found a Deda Newton stem and some Piega Elementi bars, plus some ti bolts to make this combo lighter than the Ritchey bits and a bit more classic shaped - I think you did me a favour there ;-)

the same ( AKA Avid L) , they look very nice, are light but have very tight tolerances and not much adjustability beyond the ability to change the angle of the arms - as per below pictures. I found these are not very tolerant of canti bosses/studs that aren't perfect for this type of...

lol - apologies for upsetting your (gravel) sensitivities Nobby :-) I may well experiment with something more traditional than the WCS Venturemax/Skyline which are adventurebike/CX orientated - I have some nice new Deda bars somewhere in here :-)

    Orbit CX Build Thread

some progress with components - after a bit of deliberation this is going to be more restomod than renovation and a black and red theme is emerging at the same time. I few false starts with tyres that were never going to fit and a little wrestling with seat post sizing, I am now going...

    Brodie Mantis Replica

I think building a replica is a great idea - especially if you are able to enlist such esteemed and revered craftsmanship into the mix at the same time!. Its a route I have taken myself recently to build a Ritchey 'homage' - where there is little to zero chance in the UK of obtaining...
