@Y282 - I think that's about my lot for wood based tools but the pine jaws in the vice are rather handy for good grip without damage... I'll see if I can squeeze them into the build (no pun intended).
@sparkybhp the crankset looks pretty enough but it's fairly heavy. On the flip side the steel...
Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated. I like to think that I'm a good friend and will always be there when it counts but I also know that I'm not as good as keeping in touch as I should be and, more often than not, it's the little things that count in relationships.
A bit more...
Build thread for the B52 from the first post:
Thread 'Carrera B52 - Fixing a Broken Heart'

My first build thread isn't going to be the one I ever envisioned. I'm building a bike I don't want or even really like that much, however, it's a bike build that I hope will make someone else smile and rekindle some good memories for them. It might even get ridden!
I've kept a (very lazy)...
A engineered press fit might well be safe with sufficient depth either side and wall thickness but it would require a precisely machined bore in both sides of the existing steerer tube. Assuming Cannondale didn't throw money at machining the inside of their steerer it would be a somewhat...
Further to reply in other thread the rim size for a direct replacement is ETRTO 451 such as:
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-20-451/
You might be pushed to find complete wheels in this size with a SA hub?
Dawes Kingpins also used this size/hub so could yield donor wheels but also a very nice...
That's the wrong size for your bike...it 'might' work but it should have a '451' sized rim not '406' (both confusingly referred to as 20"). I'll post a link up in your thread...
Thank you and I'll definitely let you know if I get stuck but I'm hoping the stockpile can do it's magic! It's not going to be flash, 8 speed/triple, mostly LX M600 and possibly STX but that all makes a good riding and durable bike.
That would be fantastic - thank you very much!
I'll rebuild from the spares pile, drop it in his back garden when he's out and wait for the reaction.
Pm incoming!!
